The seventh chapter of Sixth canto of Srimad Bhagavatham describes an interesting story of DevaGuru Brihaspathi leaving the Devas.
King Parikshith asked Sri Suka, “Why did DevaGuru leave his disciples Devas? What was their mistake? Please tell me”.
Sri Suka said, “One day, Devendra was sitting in his throne with Indrani, surrounded by all his courtiers. He was radiating his power and pride, enjoying the status of Devendra, the ruler of all three worlds.
Then Brihaspathi, the Guru for all Devas, entered the court, but Devendra did not pay attention to him. When the Guru comes, one must pay utmost respect to him and welcome him with all honour.
Even though Brihaspathi had the power to curse him, knowing that Devendra was mesmerized by power, the merciful master left them and hid himself.
Note: A wise man takes every thing positively. Bhagavatham says, Brihaspathi knew that some thing good will come out of this seemingly bad situation.
Sometimes prosperity steals your centeredness and virtues. You may even forget the people who contributed to your success, and thus insulting those very good people.
