Karkidaka Masam is commencing today, the auspicious period for rejuvenating ourselves. Karkidaka Masam also called as Ramayana Masam, the month of Ramayana- the time when each heart beats with the rhythm of the great epic Ramayana.
When we read Ramayana, we need to approach the great epic as an essential human evolution science. The greatness of Ramayana can be understood when we see that how it managed to retain its essence to remain fresh and contemporary amidst different interpretations over the time.
We all are familiar with the story of Sage Valmiki, the author of Ramayana, who was originally a dacoit. When we read the great epic and when we offer our reverence to Sage Valmiki, we need to think about the potential in human beings and the possibility of human transformation.
Ramayana that is centered around the life story of Lord Rama and Sita Devi brings a large number of moral, ethical, and social lessons and shows us the true values of Dharma and Karma that we must incorporate in our lives. The epic that throws light on those core values when righteously imbibed by all of us eventually leads to success. The right understanding of the principles in Ramayana gives us a tremendous opportunity to overcome the problems prevalent in the modern society.
