It is opined by Tulasidas that after a lapse of fourteen years, Saint Vasishta and other Rishis asked the Brahmin priests if they would give permission for the coronation of Lord Ram. Here it is very relevant that in those periods, saints, subjects and rulers used to take the permission and consensus of the Shastras through the learned priests for any endeavours. This approach is very essential to have an integrated and positive society in a country. After Vasishta's request, the priests agreed to Lord Ram's coronation and all around Ayodhya there was great jubilation and celebrations. There was joy and cheer all around. Lord Ram was instructed by Saint Vasishta to perform the various rites of coronation. Then Lord Ram took His seat on the royal throne. Goddess Sita sat by His side. The first auspicious royal mark on the Divine forehead was applied by Saint Vasishta. The moment the auspicious royal mark was applied on the divine forehead of Lord Ram, all the people of Ayodhya raised joyful signs hailing victory and coronation of Lord Ram. Innumerable saints had arrived in Ayodhya to participate in this remarkable event. Thus, the coronation of Almighty Lord Ram was fruitfully concluded.

Then Lord Ram along with Goddess Sita and his nearest devout friends returned to Ayodhya. After paying His respects to all the saints and ascetics on the way He instructed Hanumanji "You kindly go to Ayodhya and convey the message to Bharat that we are arriving." Hanumanji arrived in Ayodhya and communicated to Bharat "King Ram is arriving. Respected Ramachandra, the symbol of Supreme sacrifice, brother Lakshman and divine Goddess Sita - all the three, are arriving after destroying Ravan." When Bharat heard that brother Ram was arriving, his mental state was such that no words were adequate enough to describe it. The excited Bharat said to Hanuman "Please tell my Ram that he should not delay His arrival. Ayodhya will not be able to live without Him any longer." Hanuman reached Lord Ram and said, "Without any delay you should proceed towards Ayodhya, Bharat and all your subjects are anxiously waiting for your presence and Blessings." Lord Ram and others reached Ayodhya and first and foremost, they collectively touched the holy feet of their Saint Teacher Vasishta. Then Lord Ram with great affection embraced Bharat and at that time Ayodhya could not decide who out of the two suffered most in the last fourteen years. Here the understanding, devotion and sacrifice between the siblings are very well portrayed. It is a clear message to society on how one must conduct oneself.

Now the war became imminent and inevitable. Angad returned to Lord Ram and conveyed the same message. On the first day of the war Ravan lost half of his army. Ravan's son Indrajit used a special weapon 'Saang' and Lakshman lapsed into unconsciousness. As advised by Sushena, Hanuman brought the 'Sanjivani' herb and Lakshman regained his consciousness and vanquished Ravan’s son. Next Ravan's brother Kumbhakarna arrived on the battlefield. At that moment Vibhishan, currently on the side of Lord Ram met Kumbhakarna his own brother and said, "I have sought the divine side of Lord Ram". The moment Kumbhakarna heard this he appreciated Vibhishan and mentioned "You have become the glory of the clan of demons." Here you can see the goodness in the so-called Asurik clans too. It is very clear that in this world, goodness is there everywhere, we only have to identify it. Finally Ravan arrived on the battlefield and thundered. Lord Ram and Ravan used innumerable arrows on each other and in the end Lord Ram's arrows pierced Ravan's heads and he fell on the ground. Hanuman moved towards 'Ashok Vatika' to convey the heartening news to Goddess Sita. Lord Ram asked Vibhishan to perform the final rituals of Ravan and then Vibhishan was crowned as the king of Lanka. Here we can see the mutual respect the two sides have for each other even in a battle.
