Veda vyasa in describing the Avatars has consciously chosen Matsya, Kurma etc. to describe evolution of the mind. From a creature that lives in water(Matsya), to amphibian or living in both water and land (kurma) to leaving underground(Varaha or boar) to a blend of animal and man(Narasimha) to the dwarf or primitive man (Vamana) …. and so on……Please read my book DARWIN TO DASAVATHARA to understand it completely.
