You are absolutely right. What you feel as a mistake in the Puranas is a “false understanding or wrong interpretation”. Puranas have stood the test of time over 5000 years, were learned and interpreted by many intellectuals during this time. Every time it was reread and interpreted a new dimension of understanding is reached.
