You are on the right track. An intense longing to know and learn is the first step in taking up the spiritual journey. I congratulate you for using your retired life productively. A Guru is not someone you go to. When you are ready in your spiritual path, the right Guru will come to you. Until then, use all possible resources to study. Books, CDs, prabhashanams on TV etc. If you are interested, you could join a two year Vedanta course in recognized institutions. Hari Om.
