All the Tamil Scholars discoursing on the Bhagavatam tell us to do the Pitru Sradham every year without fail, but at the same time they are unable to give convincing reasons for doing this. Swamy Dayananda Saraswathy of Arya Samaj does not advocate to do Sradham. Even in Mahabaratham and Bagavtham they tell us to do the Sradham. But, today, we are not getting real Brahmanas to do the Sradham as it was done by the original founders of the system of sradham. Is it correct to do just like a meanigless ritual without the purity of real brahmanas. I want to know how the Karma called Pitru Sradham was conceived and what was the origin? How it was done at that time? What is the purpose? We, the Iyer community is not all convinced by the explanation given by great scholars like Velukkudi Krishnan, who tells Bhagavtahm through the Podikai TV every day nor by the scholars of Kanchi Mutt etc. Can you tell us the Origin and Purpose of the same, even though present day Iyers and Iyengars do not
