As said, 5 pranas and 5 upa- pranas leave the body is called death. It is a natural process. Pranas will prepare to leave the body. But when the death take place in an accident on the spot, how the pranas leave the body. It is not natural OR pranas will not get prepared to leave the body. The reason for the question is that my friend died in an accident and their priest advised them that since the death is not natural, normal death ceremonies are not sufficient for the soul as the pranas left the body struggling and hence “narayana bali” is required which is a very costly affair. What is your opinion on this.. Pls advs…

As we grow old or if we are sick for a long time, the prana or life force cannot stay within and sustain the weak body anymore and hence leaves the body. However in an accidental death the life force separates from the body instantly. No matter the way of death, the soul continues its journey by the karma sanskaras it attained in life. No ritual is going to change the course of that journey. There is no need to spend money on that either. Rather use it do some good karmas and charity which will benefit you and the beneficiary.
