Laws of inheritance are determined by the social rules for each place and time. At the time of the Pandavas, a woman could be impregnated by three other men with the permission of her husband to maintain family, but they would all be considered the sons of the man the lady is married to. Hence Kunti had three other husbands and Madri had two, with the permission of Pandu. Yet, all the sons would be considered sons of Pandu and legal heirs of his property. Hari Om.
