Dear Swamiji, I am from a middle class family with lot of financial burdens and sufferings . I completed my graduation with very high marks , not able to go for higher studies and started working . At the time of marriage my sister generously gave her gold ornaments to me without any hesitation. My brother-in-law was also very generous and helpful. After marriage, my husband started a business and borrowed some money again from my brother in law. Unfortunately, business was a loss and he could not repay the money. Finally, my ancestral property was sold out and the debt was paid off. All these happened much before and even now my mother is nagging me with very brutal and cruel words ( for me!!) that my financial life is a tragedy and I intentionally cheated my sister and all relatives like that. I am trying my level best to control my mind by surrendering everything to Bhagavan , but , not able to fully overcome because daily I am being cursed by my own mother!!. Swamiji, I will repay all the ornaments to my sister very soon as her elder daughters marriage will happen within one or two years. I have not cheated any one intentionally. I want to stay cool and happy and I want to lead a better life looking after my kids. At the same time , I will surely repay all debts before I die . This is my promise to myself!! Please help me to withstand all the sufferings this life is offering me.PranamamRadha

Problems happen in everyone’s life unintentionally. You did not plan to cheat your sister or brother- in-law and know you will repay their jewellery. Your mother is talking harsh not because she hates you, but out of her sorrow that something untoward happened to her child. That is a poor mother’s way of expressing her frustration because she is not sophisticated enough to behave otherwise. Have the courage to ignore her and focus your efforts on keeping your relation with your sister well. Work hard and slowly pay the debt back little by little. A problem becomes yours only to the point that you hug it. Don’t hug your Mom’s bad words, but have sympathy to her. She is just feeling helpless about you. That’s all. Things will get better as soon as you can keep your mind bold and clear. Chant Mahalekshmi Ashtakam 18 times daily. Hari Om.
