Dear swamiji, is getting enlightenment very painful? In his book, UG Krishnamurthy is saying that he was searching for enlightenment from the age of 21 in 1939. First he went to ramana maharshi but Maharishi’s answer did not satisfy him. He went in search for enlightenment alone & finally in 1967 when Jiddu Krishnamurthy in a speech was talking about a state which Buddha was experiencing UG Krishnamurthy found that he could also experience the same state.is a state of silence or a mindless state. When he began to concentrate on this silence one day an unexpected physical and psychological reaction took place in him. He describes this as a sudden explosion in his cells ,nerves and glands which was too painful and death like. He is saying this enlightenment as a calamity that happened to him. Dear swamiji, will everyone have to experience such pain during the enlightenment or this happen only with a very few people?

Enlightenment is a process of experiencing the ultimate bliss. How easy and effortless it is, depends on how well your energy systems are prepared for it. Though people have explained in it so many words, some as ultimate bliss and others as a calamity, it is essentially seeing beyond your senses and rising to a universal perception. Regular and committed sadhana is recommended to reach that goal. Hari Om.
