Dear Swamiji, it is heard that North india is punya bhoomi as many guru/ devadas took birth there so that they need to do simple poojas where as South india is karma bhoomi so lot of tough poojas like mrithujaya homam, sudharsana homam, guruthi tharpanam etc has to be done for the upliftment of the society. Is this true ?

As Hindism evolved, the North gave importance to the Vedic tradition while the South gave importance to the Tantric tradition. Hence the difference. When you understand the rituals and poojas, you will realize it is only a means to Jnana, or attaining the ultimate knowledge. One path does not suit all. Whether you follow the Vedic/ Tantric approach, reaching the Divine consciousness in you, is the final goal. Hari Om.
