Dear Swamiji, Lion is the vehicle of Durga, Ox of Siva, Tiger of Ayyappa, Rat of Ganapathy, Peacock of Subramania, Elephant of Indra. etc.. They are real vehicles or represent any “tatwam”.. Pls advs.

Symbolism and personification of deities are all in an attempt to explain a TATWAM. For example, Ganesha symbolizes an “awakened consciousness” which removes all obstacles. The Rat represents a “restless mind”. Only if the awakened consciousness rides on the restless mind, can we remove obstacles in life. Similarly Devi who represents mother nature rides on lion to denote the significance of taming our animalistic qualities to lead a Dharmic life attune with nature. Please read on other symbolisms.
