Spirituality is not about forgoing your desires or hard work to realize your dreams. Hinduism very clearly sets Ashrama dharmas in the life of an individual. Everyone should preferably go through Brahmacharyam, Grihasthasramam, Vanaprastham and Sanyasam. At all these levels, we should try to achieve Dharma, Ardha, Kama, Moksha. But the priorities set for each stage of life is different. This is very much in concordance with our needs. You cannot ask a hungry man to sit and chant. For him, food is a greater priority than God. To some extent, spirituality has been wrongly understood as giving up on all pleasures of life or life itself. That is absolutely wrong. Only if a mango, matures and ripens on its own, it becomes sweet. Similarly, each person should obtain his basic necessities, go through his cravings, realize his dreams and slowly evolve and mature. The problem is when you get stuck on material pleasures and want to hoard more and more, ever greedy and never content. If you have a spiritual understanding, the maturation process becomes little faster and easier. Morever, it enables you to take life and its troubles with balance. So keep dreaming, work hard, get to your goals, help others on the way, make your life useful in this world and more importantly do even your household activities as a privilege that Bhagavan has given you. Then, you will put 100% of yourself into it and reap 100% benefits. Stay blessed. Hari Om.
