Dear Swamiji, After completing Bhagavatam, Vyasa bhagavan said “above what i said are just stories only, you don’t rely on it, grasp the essence from it”. But we have proof that Sri Krishna lived in Gujarat and parts of dwaraka are still there in the bottom of the sea, like that Sri Rama built sivalingam with sand is still there in Rameswaram. We want to believe that they all lived here and their power or energy still there in this world which we can feel or absorb in difficult circumstances. The temples are built for them for this purpose. But when we know they are the characters of the stories only, we feel some sort of insecurity. Swamiji, pls comment on this.

Not all stories or characters are imagination. Some of them are. In case of others, some part is real and some are stories. The purpose of Bhagavatham is to represent different kinds of human minds and show you how each of them approached and attained God. For eg. Mahabali represents a person who is willing to make great sacrifices but proud of what he donates. It is only when time, in the form of Vamana, stands in front of him to take away everything that he thought was his, does he learn the value of total surrender in front of Bhagavan. Hence it is important to grasp the essence. Hari Om
