Dear Swamiji, I do volunteer work for kids outside India. As a part of this I share my knowledge of our puranas and other stories. The story kids want to hear is that of Ramayana. The doubts I have to clarify for them are 1. Why did Rama do injustice to Sita(who is also his praja) by leaving her in the forest ? Is it not injustice to your innocent wife to leave her, that too while pregnant on the basis of gossip, when he knows her Innocence because of Agni Pareeksha? 2. If you can leave your wife on the basis of gossip just to pacify anyone, what is the message that is being conveyed? 3. Why is Rama a devoted son, loving brother, good ruler, but an imperfect husband and more than that, an uncaring father? 4. Is taking care of your unborn child such a trivial matter? Please give me a clear answer that I can tell the kids. Thanks.

Dear Sonataji,
When we talk about Rama we should look at the various aspects of his responsibility.
As a king he should be a role model ( to day we have very few).
When his praja ( his country man) doubts his wife, if the king neglects such criticism then how can such king expect values from own citizen?
Rama never throws his wife in to forest rather he discussed with Sita and she expressed her wish to be there in the Ashram of Vatmiki. Sita wants her children to grow up in an atmosphere where they will be moulded by a Great Rishi.
Even according to management science, if you hold a higher priority you will have to leave other priorities.
We should ask ourselves, “suppose we are in the position of Rama, and if both priorities clash, which one we will opt? If we want a society where values are important then we have to manage without having personal priorities”.
