Dear Swamiji, I’m sad to say my question earlier about the destruction of nature remains unanswered in my mind. You told me I can do some part individually or through an organisation 2 help keep the environment clean. But to what extent can a person do this? Isn’t the destruction we all do everyday much higher than the construction we can do by planting some trees? Also with all respect Swamiji, I don’t think even you are doing anything in this regard. Forgive me for saying this; it is not at all accusing in any way. Pranamam.

I really appreciate your concern!
To protect environment, we all should work individually and collectively.
We should work at three levels:
First, cleanliness – we should not throw things out, especially plastic!
Also use the garbage bin – because cleanliness is Godliness!
Second, planting trees and protecting animals by observing vegetarianism, Sathwik diet, because animals can absorb more atmospheric heat!
Third, collectively we should enforce the Govt. authorities – they should give approval for building plans if and only if all such nature friendly waste disposal and plantation of trees (minimum 10 trees) for compensating the wood used for their building, by the builders.
Similarly all religious institutions should plant one BANYAN tree in their premises for the protection of nature.
We should approach the Govt.. authorities to get a sanction for planting trees in Govt. owned vacant lands.
From my part, Bhagavatham Village is an institution which will practise and propagate this message to the world!
