Dear Swamiji, Once a man dies, as per customs. sappinnikaranam will be done on 16th or 12th day. This ceremony is done in all hindu relligion/caste in different form to purify the soul from “prethavastha” to “pithrugana”. This is applicable if a man dies. If a lady dies and if her husband is alive, this “sapinnikaranam” to that lady will be performed together when her husband dies. That means if her husband dies after 20 years of his wife died, that 20 years the soul will be in “prethavastha”. i asked our priest why can’t the sapinnikaram to be done to the lady on 16th 0r 12th day evenif her husband alive, the priest said that it is written by our ancient hrishis and we cannot question that. Swamiji, what is your opinion on this ? If the customs, rituals, acharas written in ancient times, cannot be changed according to the circumstances, time and place. Pls advs.
