Any happening in this world happens at the level of energy. If you connect to negative energy they may produce some effects in you, sometimes beneficial, sometimes not. Vyasa clearly says in Bhagavatham all effects happen in the mind. If the mind is relating to negative energies it may create some benefit out of it, though in the long run, they may have ill- effects too.
It is important to purify the mind through Namajapam and elevate it to higher thinking through Dhyanam. Hari Om.
