Paramatma is the supreme infinite consciousness that forms the basis of the entire existence. When Prana or life force binds to it, individual mind or Jeevathma is manifested. This is represented in symbolism as Brahma(jeevatma) existing in a lotus arising from the umbilicus of Vishnu(Paramatma). Note that Mahavishnu is represented in “yoga nidra” to denote the inert nature of the supreme consciousness and Brahma has four heads showing how the Mind or jeevatma is responsive to the world around. Hari Om.
