Hari Om Swamiji – It is found that some people especially temple poojaris or teaching spiritualities claim themselves as Brahmashri or Acharya. Hope such titles must be honoured or obtained from any recognised institution or universities. How one can claim self as Brahmashri or Acharya merely by teaching Gita, Narayaneeyam or any such spiritual courses? Those who are teaching such spiritual texts what they can be called?

Hari Ohm. India’s spiritual culture is a knowledge obtained through experiencing it and discovered through hard penance .the knowledge is obtained in oneself after observing disciplined and regular practice of japa and meditation. Later over a period of time these knowledge was transformed to puranas and vedas . So these are called Sruthi which means the knowledge is transferred from guru to disciples who became eligible to receive knowledge through continuous practice of sadhana. When people started from institutions like colleges people started considering it as mere intellectual information. If that is to become a spiritual transformation one has to study oneself and practice. One who is studying it , practicing , experiencing and transferring are being generally called Acharya. If you are doing so you will also be called the same way by the society and respect you. That title is not to be conferred by a university or any such institution but acquired through penance ,dedicated practice and transferring of knowledge.
