Hari Om! Swamiji, who is eligible to undergo upanayanam and wear poonool….is it only a person who is brahmin by birth?

Upanayam is the process of preparing oneself to get Brahma jnanam. It has nothing to do with birth. When you feel you are ready to restraint you body and mind and focus on attaining the Supreme knowledge you can wear the “yagnopavita” to indicate your commitment. That is why upanayanam was done right before the start of formal education in Shodasa samskara. Hari Om.
