Hariom swamiji. I would like to know what is the meaning of swami. Why hindus are lighting lamps at their homes during sunsets. Why hindus are saying do not touch the mensured persons while we are going before temple.

Swami is a salutation (to an Acharya) indicating respect.
Sunset affects our minds bringing a dullness and melancholy.
Lighting lamps is for the removal of darkness representing knowledge removing ignorance.
It brings auspiciousness to the atmosphere.
