Hariom,swamiji. some doubts wander my minds regarding the funeral rites. Son rotates anti clockwise around the dead body with a earthern pot filled with water on his shoulder. three holes are made by knocking the pot. First hole at the bottom ,second hole above the first hole and finally the third hole above the second hole. And afteer three rounds the pot is dropped to the back…… My doubt swamiji,there must be some strong tatvas behind these rites. May you help me to know the tatvas behind these rites? And moreover….. Mud pot represents the human body and water represents life.
This ritual is a symbol that life has flown out of the dead body.
Our culture gives more importance to the mind, not to the body.
So, dropping the pot without turning back indicates the dropping of worldly relation.
The departed mind continues its journey and the living ones go back to normal life too.
