Hello Swamiji, What does the navagraha’s represent in a temple? Although we have main deity in a temple, why do we have upadevatha’s? and what do they denote. Today a lot of people are looking at navagraha’s as their main deity. Also temples have nagadevathas as deities, what does they represent as per our dharma?

Hinduism is a religion that considers a rock, a plant, a river, the planets, animals, and even scary creatures like snakes as divine. Meaning everything here is GOD and hence is worthy of worship.
The reason to have Upadevathas in the temple, in the path of circumambulation, is a means of psychological training. It trains your mind to quickly shit focus from one form to another. By doing this repeatedly your mind learns how to shift from problems to solutions and negatives to positives. This is something we need to understand and teach our children. Hari Om.
