What is a concept ? Concept is something you devise in your thoughts.
What are thoughts? You are right it is not part of the body. Body is just a combination of Panchabhootas that return to them on death.
Mind is a manifestation of consciousness in the form of thoughts. Thoughts are expressed when consciousness connects with life force or Prana. In this connection 4types of thoughts are produced. Emotional-Intellectual- egoistic and intelligent (Chita- Buddhi- Ahamkara- Viveka). All forms are expressions from these 4 types of thoughts (consciousness to moolaprakriti to panchabhootas). We will soon be publishing a book on the Hindu concept of evolution which describes it in detail. Hari Om.
