I am a listener of speech and talk by you in TV channels and discourse in websites. Also I listen to discourses by other Acharacle. On spiritual line, I have read many books like Autobiography of a yogi,Holy science and new age books like, Power of your subconscious mind, Conversation with God etc etc. I am leading a somewhat happy life and not turned to spirituality to get any grievance or sorrow redressed. Altogether I am confused on some points and I think your kindness can and will advise me. My doubts are 1.Is Atman(soul) and jeevan are one and the same. 2. In one discourse (Dhanyam mama jeevanm) you said that Mind is the bridge between body and Atman (at least I understood so). Then on birth who brought the SANKARA into mind? 3.On death what is leaving the body? Soul or keegan? Which takes Samsara of this life, along with? 4.Where is the seat of Buddhi? Kindly bless me with a reply to clear the doubts. Unnikrishnan

1. Jeevatma or individual mind is an extension of Paramatma( universal mind or universal consciousness). Universal mind is pure and thoughtless, but its association with life force or Prana, creates a mind with thoughts called jeevatma.
2. Body is just made of panchabhootas and returns to them on death. Mind is a conscious entity but associated with the cosmic life force or Prana. Hence considered to be a bridge between the cosmic and conscious. The mind due to association with the external world, creates its heap of impressions called sanskaras, which it carries from one body to another. Rebirth is in fact the process of mind’s journey to ultimate purity.
3. At death the three subtlest layers of your being called the causal body (karanikasareeram, which includes the mind and its samskaras also) leave the body and enter a new body.
4. Mind is a combination of thoughts. They are predominantly of 4 types. Emotional(chitha), intellectual( Buddhi), egoistic(ahamkara), and intelligent(Viveka).
