I am a regular viewer of your mind changing programs on bhagavath gita analysis, bhagavatha kathasarams since 5 years and it has helped me to change a lot in my life and made me strong. One question I wanted to ask what is the use in conducting the rituals after death with so many offerings and wastage of money when there are so many jenmams we have to take depending on your state of mind. I know swamiji would have a convincing answer

Please read the article on Karkidakavavu on our website. I have answered this question several times. Tharpanam is not for the dead. It is our way of paying homage to our ancestors and a means to remind us of the eternal nature of the atma. It should by no means be an expensive affair. Ritualism has been corrupted over the years because of our ignorance. You can pay homage to your ancestors by doing charity on their behalf as well. Hari Om.
