If our mind started its journey from God and has to evolve back tothe supreme being, what would be the purpose of creation and thus this journey?Rebirth of the physical form ,if its due to karma how do we come to terms with the huge population explosion over the years?

Actually speaking, there is no creation, only manifestation, like an ornament manifesting from gold.
Now think about your arrival to the world; your journey has been started from the mind of your parents.
If they had no desire to share, you would not have been born.
So your body is manifested from their mind, but the mind does not belong to the body.
It is alive because of the Self(Chaithanyam).
Rebirth means manifestation of old mind through new body.
The mind can exist with out body; so don’t compare the population by the counting of the body.
Think , a man discharges lakhs of sperms into the woumb of a woman and one seed of woman selects one sperm and all others are rejected. Do you think they are destroyed?
According to Science, nothing is destroyed . So listen to the lectures and study scientifically and do Sadhana.
