Namaskaram Swamiji, Can you please explain on the aspect of ishta deva. God is One. however in Hinduism there are many forms, therefore how are we to make a decision to choose a particular deity to be focussed on? or rather is it necessary to only focus on one particular form? how do we make a clear decision?

Dear, according to all religions the God is Omnipresent, Omnicient. He is formless and pure consciousness[ Chaitanyam]. In Him everything exists as the flowers in a garland exist. We can only see the flowers not the thread inside, similarly we are seeing different forms not the divinity in the forms. Initially a person finds it difficult to concentrate on formless truth. For them they have to start with a paricular form. Form need not be the form of the God. It can be a light, Sun or AUM etc. Selecting a particular form of the God depends upon your attraction to a Ishta Devata. Our masters realized that each individual””s charecter is different. According to their taste they should be able to lift their mind. For that they require different forms. So do not get confused with different forms. Select one and go ahead. Hinduism is like a taxi stand. Select one vehicle and reach the destination.
