Namaskaram, Swamiji. I would like to know the real meaning/sybolism of Jarasandha and why Krishna made Bhima kill him though Krishna was all powerful to do so.

Jara represents our body which has jara maranam ( always got death ) and sandh- the mind which is associated with the body is called “Jarasandh” . As Bhimasena separated the body of Jarasandh into two , similarly with discrimination and intelligent thinking we need to understand that the subtle body conscious mind and the gross body, they are two. Body is an instrument through which the mind is functioning. For eg. look at the bulb and electric power. They are two . Electric power can function through the bulb but for the existence of electric power bulb is not needed. In the same manner for the survival of the conscious mind the body is not needed, body is only an instrument through which the mind functions.
