Namaskaram swamiji. Swamiji, what is the idea behind the bell in temples? In the northern sides of India we can ring the bell but in Kerala we cannot. can u please clear my doubt?

Dear Ramya,
We have five senses. All these senses are attracted towards each one”s objects. The philosophy behind the bells in our temples is to attract our hearing ability and divert towards the Lord. So you will be detached from external sounds which take you away from God. The sound of temple bells and the counch and Namasankeerthana all will help you to concentrate on the Supreme God Presence.
