Pregnant woman can light lamp but it will be better to avoid any place where the child in the womb gets affected by the noise around.The sound of bell and the sound of percussion instruments could be irritating for the child. Similarly the sudden sound of ‘vedi ‘may scare the infant and that in turn may affect the growth of its brain and behavior.Such restrictions are imposed for the protection and safety of the child .There is no harm for the child while the mother is lighting the lamp or reading scriptures or chanting names of God.
