Namaste Swamiji, Happy New Year! Swamiji, in the Bhagavata Mahatmyam, after having described the character of Dhundali, when she does as per her sister’s instructions, it says that “as is the nature of the women”. and also that after several years Atma Deva and Dhundali didnot have a son or even a daughter. These description throws a bad light on the women’s character and procuring a daughter is not all that preferable. Swamiji, this is not my interpretation. It is there in the book. These contents , i feel, when falls into to the hands of a ignorant and egoistic people, brings about a downfall in the society. Such information could be possibly the cause of degradation of women in our society. i observe in my own family circle that people who read Bhagavatam treat a daughter of a daughter in law as a trash. i am trying my best to erase such wrong concepts but my own family (inlaws) are a hurdle in my attempt in educating both men and women to respect eachother. i seek your blessing.
