Namaste Swamiji, I am a boy of 16. Many a time I have had fierce quarrel with my Mother. The thing is that, once the quarrel starts off,she tells anything and everything she wants and I listen to her without much arguing. But,once she says whatever she wants, she is reluctant to hear what I have to say and often shuts the door of her room.As a result,I cannot tell anything back to her to clear my stand. And she claims that she is self controlling, thats why she is shutting the door. This action of her annoys me a lot.And also I cannot agree, rather digest everything what she says. And when I try to speak her in a peaceful manner, she starts namajapam without paying any attention to what I have to say. This hurts me a lot too.The same happens when there is a quarrel between my mother and brother also.My mother also listens and reads topics related to Adhyatma also. And as an observer, her act remains the same at every such situations even after she has been to many adhyatmic classes and prabashan

Dear Arjun,
I fully understand what you are going through.
Try to look at your life from a scientific angle. Our soul existed even before this life, in a different body. Even Darwin’s theory confirms this.
Adolosence is the period, when one’s accumulated character of the previous lives start manifesting itself. During this period one’s ego develops. Arguments are nothing but battle of egos. The child craves for emotional attention, but in your case you fail to get it from your mother.
Please understand, It is not because she doesn’t love you, but because, she, unfortunately, is not aware of your needs.
Use this opportunity to turn to God for emotional support.
Choose a form of God, which endears you. Befriend HIM; consider Him as your close confident, spend some time with HIM every day, share your grievances with HIM.
Surrender completely to HIM and control your mind by ‘namajapam’ and meditation. You will be motivated by the changes taking place in you.
This way, your energy will be channelised for the development of your inner personality. Your studies will improve, your mind will experience more and more harmony and peace.
The behaviour of others will stop bothering you.
My prayers are with you always!
Hari Om
