Temples have been consecrated to maintain a certain divine energy level. There is a change in the female aura around menstruation which makes her less receptive to ethereal energy levels maintained in the temples, hence she is advised not to go. There is no impurity in a menstruating female, as is commonly said or believed. She can however continue japams at home.
