Namasthe Swamiji, From my spiritual inquiries, it seems killing an animal/bird for food or medicine is justified in our Sasthras, but same time a devotion to Ahimsa and Universal Love is expected from the mankind. I feel both are contradicting. Even when we adhere to vegetarian food, we are killing them as they too have a life/consciousness within, but we cant avoid food too. So how to understand the spiritual justification in killing a living thing for food, by a person who respect and love Ahimsa ?

Understand, plucking a plant, its leaf or fruit will still give birth to new plants, but cutting an animals’ head will not give birth to its child.
Even vegetarian food, one should not waste.
