Pranam Swamiji, In Kerala temples why “suddhi” is followed so much and only poochari’s can do the poojas where as in North India, we can do abhishekam and archana to the deity directly ourselves. Can’t we follow this system in Kerala too. What is your opinion.

Kerala temples follow very strict Agama culture of rituals which restrict devotees from entering the Garbha Griham. It is based on the concept of mind-body complex and the energy circulation. You can follow North Indian culture in such temples in Kerala too. HariOm!

Hari Om Swamiji, I am in a dilemma. I am a devotee of Lord Krishna or I am struggling to become one. Last 3 years I fast on all ekadasis even without drinking water till evening. There is a Siva temple very close to my home. I always pray to Krishna to support me to a strong devotee. Then what can I pray when I visit Siva Temple ?

Dear Swamiji, Sankara bhagavatpada at his last stage went to Kedarnath and prayed to God ” i hv done 3 mistakes in my life – i tried to see you as a deity in a temple when you are filled every where, secondly i searched for you in many temples in north and south india and thirdly i tried to praise you with limited words – pls forgive me”. i have two questions in connection with this. In many temples and houses Ganapathy homam is done at the same time in the morning. How the lord accept this pooja in the same time which is done at different places in the same time. In many Durga temples poojas are done for devi but in Chottanikkara and Kodungalloor Devi has more power and special poojas are done there. How the same Devi gets different powers in different places.

Pranams Swamiji! I used to go to houses to chant narayaneeyam during occasions as birthday, for puja etc. Some people want mini narayaneeyam, some want the entire 100 dashakam with keertanam. Recently I visited a house where they had kept narayeenayam chanting. The team started at 8.30am and by 1.15 they finished the entire 100 dashkam, with some small slokas and keertanam. I was not able to chant at that speed so I slowly recited. After finishing I asked them why so much speed. They told they are practicing for chanting at Guruvayoor as they have only 5 hours to finish the entire dashkam. They were omitting so many words. Is completing the entire dashkam somehow the main motto? What should I do at similar situation? 2. They insisted that they should keep rukmini also and when we chant they should do the marriage part. The house owner should do all that part. Most of the time the house owner’s do not know what to do and without telling anything the people chant at full speed, Then the owner comes and asks what to do. That time they tell to do something which looks very irrelevant. Is it necessary we should keep rukumini and do all that which we do during saptaham. 3. Sometimes I feel we have so much to chant that we create so much confusion also. One teacher tells we should first chant vinayaka, guru then saraswathi, other teacher says no first vinayaka, guru then saraswathi. Everything is bhagavan so what differenence it should make if you chant first or last. Only thing if we are in a group we should chant identically to avoid chaos, and there should be a pattern or discipline isn’t it swamiji? 4. Swamiji there is a person in our family who has very foul mouth. We can’t predict for what reason she will burst at whom. So we all are very careful. Recently at a function she was busy with other relatives and we try to avoid her. So one relative came and asked us are we not in talking terms with her was there any arguments etc. I told no, no.. just for some or other reasons she flares and incurs “Pappam” by hurting us so atleast by keeping safe distance we are helping her from accumulating more pappam. But they were not satisfied anyway. All these unwanted questions swamiji. please excuse if unwanted. “Namaskaram”

Maya Seetha is the illusionary Seetha who replaced the real Seetha before she was caught by Ravana. After the death of Ravana, Maya Seetha was replaced again by real Seetha. This is according to some versions of Ramayana. Sage Valmiki did not mention such a twist in the story. HariOm!

Dear Swamiji, If somebody in our house dies, we will not go to temples and sit at home without touching anybody. But see Christians if somebody dies, bury them at the church itself and they go to church daily. We Hindus arrange marriages only after matching the horoscopes of boy and girl. After that a lot of divorces happening. But see Christians, they are not checking or matching the horoscopes, still they live happily. Number of divorces are very less in Christians. So a lot of anachara are prevailing in Hindus. Is there any need for sitting at home without touching outsiders for 12 days. Is there any need of checking or matching horoscopes before marriage. Pls advs.
