This kind of confusion happens because you try to make sense of stories which have been just narrated to say a TATWAM. “Hiranyakshan took Bhoomi to rasaloka and Bhagavan came as a boar to raise the earth and put it back in place”. Let us understand what this really means. “Hiranyam” means Gold and Hiranyakshan is one with his eyes on material wealth. When someone is too involved in material pleasures, his mind (bhoomika) is hidden in Rasaloka or “world of pleasures”. To come out of that, Bhagavan has to come as “Yagna Varaha”. The word yagna is added to Varaha to show a collective effort or “yagnabhavam”. When the world is under the clutches of material pleasures we need collective efforts or Satsang to save the mind(bhoomika) from it. Yagnavaraha is Satsang or our collective consciousness of learning the scriptures and understanding, to get rid of our material cravings. This is something that happens even today. Not a matter of when earth was created or water was created. Hari Om.
