Pranam Swamiji, As said departed soul is reborn or not is the criteria for doing srardha ceremony but express gratitude to the departed ones. The nut shell of srardha is invite departed soul from pithri loka give them rice and water and return them to pithruloka. Our one year is pithru one day. So when we do tharpan every year they get rice and water every day. If they are not there in pithru loka ( as they hv reborn) then there is no meaning of srardha. One more ritual our rishis said that out of 10 pranas only 9 prana gone searching new body and 10th prana dhananjaya prana reside at pithru loka supporting family wealth and new gen. Dhanam has 2 meaning wealth and vamsam. When we discontinue srardham means discontinuation of new gen in the family. Pls correct if my u’standing is wrong.

Hari Ohm . I feel that you are still confused about your understanding about the topic of Srarddha. we Hindus are taught that Atma will remain somewhere after death. if everything including life is moving constantly ,would you be able to control another self or atma as per your wishes. In your own family physically many persons are there. Can you control and keep the mind of the other with you ? If this is not possible while living how can we control the soul after death? Moreover every mind moves according to its own vasanas . The parents always want to keep their kids at home but they will be with their friends and games. so everyone live in their own world. How do you know that all the souls are residing at one place, Pithruloka? These are beliefs and imaginations. Life is constant journey,we can only express our gratitude ,respect and honour for our satisfaction. So do sradda with a positive mind and not with whims and imaginations.
