Hari Ohm. First of all we should understand whatever we learned from the scriptures are carried away by the thoughts without knowing the real meaning. That is why such doubts are coming in our mind.Nama japam is not to praise the Lord or prayers for some benefits.The repetition of the manthras purify our mind and expand it to positive energy.Emotions or negative thoughts will drain off the energy. So prayers are for ourselves,for the benefit of our minds..
