Pranam Swamiji, If Karmic burden is not transferable, why we are giving godanam, mrutyunjaya danam, ekothishta danam etc to brahmins. If it is to reduce the karmic burden, will it increase the karmic burden of the receiver. Pls advs.

For anything you do, there is a physical action and an intention. When it comes to karma, intention is more important than the action itself. So it is important to do everything with a pure heart. If you love someone, but do it to get something in return, your love is only a business. When you do charity with the intention of getting a karmic benefit out of it, it is futile. Instead, it you donate out of your sincere intention to help, seeing the receiver one with you (Bhagavatham says “ananyena Chakshussa’ meaning viewing as not different from you), then you will remove some of your karmic burden with the nobility. Hari Om.
