Dear Mini,
Deepam represents the inner light called Atma, when you light it at Sandhya, that is the time when light goes and darkness comes. Similarly, when the mind falls in to the darkness of miseries, one should keep the light of strength and wisdom to face that situation. With this understanding, please do the lighting of the lamp.
