Pranamam swamiji, Recently I came to know that it is compulsory to recite GAYATHRI manthra 9 times before and after VISHNU SAHASRA NAMAM.But I didn’t so for many years.It was said that if one didn’t do so then his PRANORJAM will be affected in a bad way due to the mistakes he committing unknowingly during his namajapam.I also heard that women must not recite GAYATHRI MANTRA .If one word that is ‘na’ is spoken out in a wrong way the whole meaning of the mantra will become just opposite.What will I do?Please give me a good suggestion.Whether I can continue reciting VISHNU SAHASRANAMASTROTRA JAPAM without bothering about Gayathri mantra?If I did small mistakes in it then what will I do?I heard that Common peoples are allowed to recite sahasranamam not as a mantra but as a strothram .I s it right or wrong?

Do you have any scriptural backing for all these “hearsays”? GAYATRI and SAHASRANAMAM are both very profound mantras and if you can recite both, great. If not, continue with Sahasranamam. Any person is bound to make some mistakes when chanting a mantra in the beginning. But as you chant more and more, you will get established in it. Please remember Valmiki started reciting “Mara, Mara” instead of RAMA, RAMA….and eventually created the great Ramayana. Don’t be discouraged by anything. The more you drive, a better driver you become. The more you chant the perfect you become too. Stay blessed. Hari Om.
