Pranamam Swamiji, Since enjoyment of a desire leads to strengthening of vasana, which traps one in samsara, how can kaama be considered a legitimate goal of life ?

Kaama is never considered a “legitimate goal” of life. A certain amount of desire and will are needed to live life. However the intend or volition behind the desire is what matters. Undue desires are definitely a means to destruction. Hari Om.
