Pranamam, God is one,but the images of God are in many forms.Even in temples many Upadevas are surrounding the main Deva.This looses the God’s prathishta in the mind and looses concentration while praying.

God is not ONE unique entity, that is the belief system of other religions.
For Indians, God is ONE without second (means the unmanifest and the manifest).
When you say “God is ONE”, then who are you?
Are you different from God?
God alone manifests in different forms.
For us, God is the Supreme Truth that preserves and holds the mind(“ee”) breath(“swa”) and heat(“ra”) in the body.
That means, the conscious energy which holds the mind, breath and heat in the body is “eswara”(God) and all other deities we see in the temple are the divine incarnations who manifested here to teach that “YOU ARE THAT” ( thathwa masi) and guide us towards divinity.
Actually they are all our Gurus but unfortunately because of our lack of understanding, we started believing that they are the “God”.
So, let there be many Gurus, but understand, they teach us the techniques to become God.
