pranams swamiji, i visited the new website it is great to see that the mission is being spread everywhere. swamiji, i actually asked a question about how do we render service to the world when oppurtunity knocks the door? Swamiji, how do we renounce worldly pleasures and desires as mentioned in the gita?if we keep on doing sadhana and reading the scriptures will we be given the strength to renounce all the materialistic objects?

Dear Yani,
Sorry for the delay in answering; as I was travelling I have not emptied the Questions basket in our site.
Please note that renunciation is a much misunderstood concept.
When you live in this world, you can not physically renounce it.
But you can definitely drop the cravings or feverishness about the world with AWARENESS.
For example, you need money (directly or indirectly) to live in this world and help others live too.
When you constantly think about the means to make money, even by cheating others, it is ADHARMIK.
But, when you give sincere service and accept reasonable income from it, it is DHARMIK.
We need to drop our individualistic desires to serve for a greater cause.
A wise mind gets happiness through selfless service only – that is, by not attaching the attitude behind service to the remuneration offered.
Sadhana helps us to shift our desires to higher planes of humanity, for the benefit of all.
HariOm!
