Respected Guruji Namaskar. Today morning, I was listening to your talk on karma broadcast over Asianet TV. It set me thinking. Don’t we pay for our evil deeds in this life itself? Does the retribution have to come in the next life? Besides, will not this belief lead t a certain hardheartedness among us Hindus? If we see a child suffering wiil we not think that that he/she is paying for certain bad karmas in the past life? I remain Prayerfully yours Mrs. Padma

The doctrine of karma makes you entirely responsible for your actions and thoughts. It is not to tell you to ignore or blame someone in suffering, but to teach you, if you are not compassionate to that suffering person, you will acquire a bad karma. Whether you pay back in this life or future births, you have to live off your good and bad karma on the way to Mukti. Human life is a great opportunity to replace all your bad karmas by using your discrimination and understanding. Hari Om.
