Revered Swamiji, Namaskaram. In almost all Hindu scriptures bhakthi has been described in two ways. One is saguna bhakthi and the other nirguna bhakthi. Saguna bhakthi is the upasana of a deity with name and form. How these gods got their name and form is not understood. There are numerous temples and every temple has got a deity with a name and form. Who gave names for these deities and forms of male and female with different attires and jewellery. How can a devotee who has gone through upanishads etc. where Brahman or one and only God of the Universe is defined as Ekam, Nithyam,Vimalam,achalam,Nirakaaram,Nirgunam and with so many other attributes which do not fit to the Saguna Brahman worship these deities. Swamiji may plwase comment on these points. Hariom!

When you look respectfully at a photograph of your father, are you respecting the paper or the person depicted in there? We had 33 million Gods at a time when our population was 33 million. All forms of worship are a matter of personal preference. Saguna Bhakta is like a little son. His love for the mother is full of attachment. He wants to always see his mother and cling on her bosom. While Nirguna Bhakta is like an older son who is physically away from the mother but yet very close to her mentally. Both sons are equally dear to the mother!!! Hari Om.
