Revered Swamiji, Namaskaram! Listeners like me who are listening to Swamiji,s discourse of Bhagavad Gita on TV must be very grateful to Swamiji because they get clarity of the subject which is not available through any other source either by reading commentary in books or by listening to the discourses of others. Bhagavad Gita is not a book to be worshipped in Pooja Room but it is a sastra to be understood and assimilated thoroughly by every seeker. But it is not possible to understand the cream of the advice of Bhagavan because the language Sanskrit is not familiar to all the aspirants. Here comes the importance of a Sadguru who is free from religious rituals and other customs prevalent in society. It is a pitiable fact that many of the Hindu Children and others are baffled at the questions of the followers of other religions that why Hindus are having so many Gods and Goddesses. Unless the Hindus are not properly rooted in the principles of Hinduism it is not easy to reply to the question. No two people are born with the same traits. There will be variations of three Gunas (Satwa, Rajas and Thamas) in each individual, otherwise known as Vasanas. It is a fact that the interests and likes and dislikes in individuals vary one another. Hence it is difficult for every body to adore and worship one and the same idol. It is like people selecting different designs and shapes of gold ornaments available in jewellery shop. Every individual selects different designs which is quite attractive to that person even though all the ornaments are gold and gold alone. This example was given by none other than Swami Chinmayananda. In the same way it is very difficult to impose only one figure as God on everybody because Hinduism was not founded by a single messenger of God. Gradually one will realise that the idol that he is worshipping alone is not God but he is there in all idols. I request Swamiji to please correct if there is any mistake in the above mentioned ideas. Hariom!
